WINDOWS OF CHRISTMAS
The Downtown merchants would like to thank the public for their support over the Christmas Holiday. The idea of “Buy Local” has helped many of our merchants. We would like to thank all of the Stores for decorating the windows for the holiday season. The theme this year was “A WHITE CHRISTMAS”. The snowflakes, snowflake banners and wreathes were just the touch to create a festive mood in the Downtown area. Window Decorating Contest
This year our theme is WHITE. Our annual window decorating contest will be for everyone. There will be no need to register or be nominated. All locations will be included in our judging process. A panel of 3 judges will be selected from our Board. They will review each location and determine which displays will merit recognition for First, Second or Third place plaques. We encourage everyone to promote a renewed spirit of excitement through your creative displays. Lets demonstrate we are a community that accepts our challenges and cares about promoting a positive image to all.
Holiday Spirit is Here
With the Christmas season approaching us soon we are very busy planning many traditional events. We have been very fortunate with everyone supporting our downtown retailers to have been able to come together and purchase beautiful new decorative snowflakes that will be lining Talbot St. There will also be new winter banners and also our parkette’s will be lit and beautifully decorated. Optimist Santa Clause Parade
Adding to the season’s excitement in our downtown will be the spectacular Optimist Santa Claus Parade. Santa and his helpers will arrive on Saturday, November 19, 2011 starting at 6pm. Bands, floats, colourful costumes, festive music and so much more will entertain all. Of course the kids will love the candy. Please try to remember the Caring Cupboard, Christmas Care and other charities. Canned goods, clothing and durable goods will be collected along the parade route by the local firefighters.
